Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Four in a Row, developed and published by Intelligent games & apps (“we”, “us”, or “our”), handles information when you use our free application (the “App”).
The App is a casual offline board game. You can play without creating an account. Some features—analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and optional banner advertisements—use the internet and third-party services provided by Google.
By installing or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information we collect
We do not ask you to sign in and we do not collect your name, email address, or phone number through the App.
2.1 Data stored on your device
The App stores the following information locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers:
- In-progress match state — board position, current player, game mode, and related settings so you can resume after the App is closed.
- Match history — a limited on-device log of completed games (mode, outcome, difficulty where applicable, and timestamp). History is capped to the most recent matches stored by the App.
2.2 Analytics data (Firebase Analytics)
When the App is connected to the internet and Firebase is configured, we use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used.
The Analytics events do not include your name, free-text messages, or precise location. Firebase may also collect standard device and usage information (such as device model, operating system version, and general engagement metrics) as described in Google’s Firebase Privacy information.
2.3 Crash and diagnostic data (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the App crashes or encounters certain errors, Firebase Crashlytics may automatically collect crash logs, stack traces, and related diagnostic information (such as device model, operating system version, and App version) to help us fix problems.
2.4 Remote configuration (Firebase Remote Config)
The App uses Firebase Remote Config to fetch settings from Google’s servers—for example, whether banner advertisements are enabled. This request may be logged by Google as part of normal Firebase service operation.
2.5 Advertising data (Google AdMob)
When banner ads are enabled via Remote Config, the App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect or receive information from your device, which may include:
- Advertising ID (GAID) and device identifiers
- IP address (which may be used to infer general location)
- Ad interaction and impression data
- Device and App information needed to deliver and measure ads
We do not include your name or custom analytics parameters in ad requests. Ad personalisation and data use are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob’s data disclosure guidance. You can reset or limit ad personalisation in your device’s Google Ads settings.
2.6 Information we do not collect
- User accounts, passwords, or social profiles
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data
- Precise GPS location (the App does not request location permissions)
- Payment or billing information (the App is free and has no in-app purchases)
3. How we use information
- Provide core gameplay, resume interrupted matches, and show match history
- Measure App usage and improve features
- Diagnose and fix crashes and stability issues
- Deliver and measure optional banner advertisements
- Comply with legal obligations
Core gameplay works offline. Analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and ads require a network connection.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data on these bases:
- Legitimate interests — analytics, crash reporting, and security to operate and improve the App
- Consent — where required for personalised advertising; you may withdraw consent through device ad settings
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law
5. Third-party service providers
We use Google services that process data on our behalf or as independent controllers:
- Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config)
- Google AdMob (advertising)
We do not sell your personal information. Google may process data in the United States and other countries. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details on their practices and your choices.
6. Data retention
- On-device data — kept until you clear App storage, uninstall the App, or start a new match that overwrites saved state. Match history entries are removed when you clear data or uninstall.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics — retained according to Google’s default retention settings and our Firebase project configuration.
- AdMob — retained according to Google’s advertising policies.
7. Your choices and rights
- Local data — clear the App’s storage or uninstall to remove on-device match data and history.
- Analytics and ads — you may limit ad personalisation in Android Settings → Google → Ads. Some analytics collection is integral to Firebase when enabled; uninstalling the App stops further collection.
- Access, correction, deletion — depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we control. Because we do not operate user accounts, most identifiable data is held by Google as our service provider. Contact us (below) and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children’s privacy
Four in a Row is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) through the App. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where required by law.
If the App is made available to children in your region, advertising will be configured in line with applicable Google Play Families and AdMob policies.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the data we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Match data on your device is not encrypted beyond the protections provided by your device operating system.
10. International transfers
Google may process and store information on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, Google provides appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google’s documentation for more information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or the Google Play store listing where appropriate. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
